I’ve just been on a tour in Egypt with my Mum, and my dream since I was three years old was to go to Egypt. It was the number one place in the world I have always wanted to see.
So I was excited when Tom picked us up at the Cairo Airport, even though it was in the middle of the night, and I was pretty stuffed.
The first day of the tour we went to the Pyramids of Giza, and that was my main goal to see in Egypt. They were way bigger than I expected, and I looked at them and it reminds me of the balloon pyramid in the Despicable Me 1 movie. I didn’t know there was going to be that many pyramids – I only thought there was one! I even went inside the middle of one of them.
While I was in Egypt I learnt about a lot of the Egyptian gods like Ra Harakhty, Anubis, and Nut etc and I liked to draw them from the sheet of paper they gave us with them on.
Sometimes we learnt Ancient Egyptian history with our guide Waleed and did ‘role playing’, and I was Ra Harakhty.
I really enjoyed the Felucca boat we took on the Nile, and I thought it was relaxing and fun. But bring mosquito spray if you go, because they sucked my blood. Sometimes I wonder if vampires don’t turn into bats; they turn into mosquitoes.
All of the hotels we stay at on the tour had pools. One was freezing, and the one in Luxor was heated and had a spa too, so I liked that, and even my Mum swam in the warm pool. And I even jumped in the Nile River, and that was actually kind of cold so I didn’t last long.
On our last night we went to the Sound and Light Show, and I really liked that, because they lit up the Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza. But the show was a bit cold and long for me.
I thought Egypt would be way, way hotter, but after all we are in spring. But compared to when we went to Morocco last year it was much colder in Egypt. In Cairo it wasn’t even hot, and we even had a few sprinkles of rain one day when we went to Alexandria.
I liked our guide Waleed A LOT, and apparently he is one of the top ten tour guides. He took me to Macdonalds and I was happy and excited because even though I like Egyptian food, I think I like Macdonalds more!
I’m still a bit tired from the tour, but I’m glad I went, and I want to come back to Egypt another time and do it again.
