Roman columns at Jerash, Jordan
This tour is ideal for people on their second visit to Egypt, who don't need a Nile Cruise and want to visit the Sinai and the main highlights in Jordan. After seeing the Pyramids & Sphinx and Egyptian Museum in Cairo, we stay at a hotel at the foot of Mt. Sinai, next to St. Catherine's monastery, before enjoying some snorkelling and heading into Jordan to enjoy a desert safari in Wadi Rum, a full tour of Petra, the spectacular King's Highway, a swim in the Dead Sea, and a tour of Roman Jerash.
Note: We are adjusting the itinerary for this tour for 2011. Our 29 Dec 2010 departure, and all departures after the 9th January 2011 will be 11 days long, with an extra free day in Dahab, and an extra day in Petra, which will include a tour to Little Petra and time for you to revisit the main site as well.
The Great Pyramids in a line at Gisa, Egypt
The tour starts in
Cairo where we tour the majestic Pyramids and Sphinx, and learn more about Egyptian history and ancient culture in the Egyptian Museum, home to a huge array of artefacts, statues, mummies, and of course, the famous Tutankhamum exhibit.
From Cairo, we enter the desert of the Sinai Peninsular and spend 2 nights by the Red Sea in
Dahab from where you have the option to visit
Mt. Sinai and the Greek orthodox
St. Catherine's monastery which has a charming small chapel and a world-renowned collection of religious icons. You can also try some snorkelling at the Blue Hole, with its myriad coral, fish and sea-life.

After crossing into Jordan, where we start our tour amid the stunning desert scenery of
Wadi Rum with a jeep safari and Bedouin lunch before heading to
Petra, rightly one of the world's most famous ancient sites, where the Nabataean people carved their ancestral tombs into the beautifully coloured sandstone cliffs surrounding this inaccessible hidden city. In the evening, there is the chance to experience the Petra by Candlelight tour, when thousands of candles light up the Siq and Treasury.

From Petra, the scenic
King's Highway takes us through small rural villages, across deep Wadis to
Amman, with stops en-route to visit the crusader castle at
Kerak, the Roman mosaics at
Madaba, and to admire the views of the Jordan Valley and into Israel from
Mt. Nebo.
Our last day's tour is spent swimming in the Dead Sea, and exploring the well preserved Roman ruins at
Jerash. The tour finishes in Amman.
