"I was just shocked to get what I got out of this tour. I never thought that I would get this much for the price I paid! The tour guides were brilliant, I will recommend Egypt Uncovered to everybody I know going to Egypt! Thank you for everything!"

| Egypt & Jordan Explorer Tour |
9 days |
Camels in the desert at Wadi Rum, Jordan Ideal for those who may already have visited Upper Egypt or done a Nile Cruise, this tour combines a visit to the majestic Pyramids & Sphinx in Cairo, the Egyptian Museum, and time by the Red Sea, with a full tour through Jordan. We include a jeep safari amid the stunning desert scenery of Wadi Rum, a full tour of Petra, a drive up the spectacular King's Highway, a swim in the Dead Sea, and a tour of Roman Jerash.
Note: We are adjusting the itinerary for this tour for 2011. Our 30 Dec 2010 departure, and all departures after the 9th January 2011 will be 10 days long, with an extra day in Petra, which will include a tour to Little Petra and time for you to revisit the main site as well.
The Great Pyramids at Gisa, Egypt In Cairo, we begin with a guided tour to the Pyramids and Sphinx, before heading into town to visit the famous Egyptian Museum with its huge array of artefacts, statues, mummies, and of course, the mask and sarcophagi of the pharaoh Tutankhamun.
Leaving Cairo, we head past the Suez Canal into the desert of the Sinai Peninsular and the Red Sea town of Dahab, where you can enjoy some snorkelling at the beautiful Blue Hole, with its vast array of coral, fish and sea-life. You also have the chance to climb Mt. Sinai and visit St. Catherine's monastery, before we head north to Taba to cross into Jordan.
Our tour in Jordan starts with a jeep safari in Wadi Rum, surrounded by towering cliffs and strange rock formations. We spend the night in a comfortable Bedouin camp, enjoying their hospitality, food, and sleeping in a traditional tent or under the stars.
Next we head to Petra, rightly one of the world's most famous ancient sites, where the Nabataean people carved their inacessible city into the cliffs of the beautifully coloured sandstone. As well as a full tour, you have the chance to enjoy the Petra by Candlelight tour in the evening, when the Siq and Treasury are lit up by thousands of candles.

Leaving Petra, we head up the King's Highway to Amman. The road passes through small rural villages, and winds its way up and down many deep Wadis, and we stop en-route to tour the crusader castle at Kerak, the Roman mosaics at Madaba, and to admire the views of the Jordan Valley and into Israel from Mt. Nebo.
Our final tour is a day trip out of Amman to swim in the Dead Sea, and explore the well preserved Roman ruins at Jerash. The tour finishes in Amman.
Notes:
- A Superior level version of this tour is also available,
which stays in 5-star hotels instead of the approx. 3-star level used
on this tour - please see our Pyramids & Petra tour for details.
- This tour also runs alongside some of our longer Egypt & Jordan
tours and when group numbers are small you may join with travellers
from another group (for example doing our Grand Egypt & Jordan Adventure
