The Great Pyramids at Gisa, Egypt
In Cairo, we begin with a guided tour to the Pyramids and Sphinx, before heading into town to visit the famous Egyptian Museum with its huge array of artefacts, statues, mummies, and of course, the mask and sarcophagi of the pharaoh Tutankhamun.
Leaving Cairo, we head past the Suez Canal into the desert of the Sinai Peninsular, where we enjoy some snorkelling at the beautiful Blue Hole, with its vast array of coral, fish and sea-life. You also have the chance to climb Mt. Sinai and visit St. Catherine's monastery, before we head north to Taba, to catch the fast ferry to Aqaba.
Our tour in Jordan starts with a jeep safari in Wadi Rum, surrounded by towering cliffs and strange rock formations. We spend the night in a comfortable Bedouin camp, enjoying their hospitality, food, and sleeping in a traditional tent or under the stars.
Next we head to Petra, rightly one of the world's most famous ancient sites, where the Nabataean people carved their inacessible city into the cliffs of the beautifully coloured sandstone. As well as a full tour, you have the chance to enjoy the Petra by Candlelight tour in the evening, when the Siq and Treasury are lit up by thousands of candles.
Byzantine mosaic in St. George's Church at Madaba, Jordan
Leaving Petra, we head up the King's Highway to Amman. The road passes through small rural villages, and winds its way up and down many deep Wadis, and we stop en-route to tour the crusader castle at Kerak, the Roman mosaics at Madaba, and to admire the views of the Jordan Valley and into Israel from Mt. Nebo.
Our final tour is a day trip out of Amman to swim in the Dead Sea, and explore the well preserved Roman ruins at Jerash. The tour finishes in Amman.
