Meet and greet at the airport and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to settle into the hotel and relax after your journey.
Enjoy a full day tour of the famous pyramids and Sphinx at Gisa before visiting the Egyptian Museum in Cairo to see the famous Tutankhamun exhibit. In the evening we board the overnight train to Aswan (1st class carriage with reclining seats, sleeper upgrade available).
We arrive in Aswan in the morning and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon we take a tour to Philae Temple and the High Dam at Lake Nasser.
Early this morning there is the option to drive out into the desert early morning to visit the spectacular temples at Abu Simbel. In the afternoon we enjoy a boat trip to some of the islands that dot the Nile around Aswan before boarding our felucca sailboat to begin our Nile cruise (luxury Dahabiya or Nile cruise upgrade available).
You spend the day relaxing today as you float down the Nile on our traditional felucca sailboat. In the evening we are entertained by our boat crew who perform traditional Nubian musical entertainment.
We end our felucca cruise after breakfast before exploring the riverside temple at Komombo and then Edfu temple en-route to Luxor. In the afternoon you can explore the markets in Luxor or relax in your hotel by the Nile before our evening visit to Luxor temple, which sits right in the middle of town and is beautifully lit up at night.
We cross the Nile today to visit the sights on the west bank including the Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatchepsut and Medinat Habu Temples and the imposing Colossi of Memnon. There is also an option to take a spectacular early morning hot air balloon flight over the Nile. Late in the afternoon we visit the huge complex of temples at Karnak.
Our desert adventure starts today as we head out into the wide expanses of Egypt's western deserts. First stop is Kharga Oasis where we can visit the Temple of Hibis and the Deir-al-Kashef monastery. After further driving through the desert we come to the smaller Dakhla Oasis where we explore the main town of Mut and the Islamic village of Al Qasr.
After leaving Dakhla this morning we drive on to the small and remote Farafra Oasis where we can enjoy some of the local hot water springs, visit the old part of town, and see the gallery belonging to the famous local artist Badr. We then take to 4x4 jeeps and head out on safari into the White Desert. The rock formations formed by centuries of wind and sand erosion here are spectacular, and we make our camp for the night underneath some of these. Your Bedouin crew will prepare an evening meal and camp fire and you have a memorable night sleeping under the stars.
After enjoying a spectacular setting for our breakfast under the rock formations, we leave the White Desert and continue our 4x4 safari, taking in the Black Desert, Crystal Mountain, and driving huge sand dunes on our way to the Bahariya Oasis. A tour of the Oasis is included, taking in the Temple of Alexander the Great, Pyramid Mountain and other sites. In the evening we may explore the main Oasis town further and enjoy the sunset over the surrounding hills.
Tour tour leaves Bahariya this morning and we drive back to Cairo, arriving around lunchtime. The afternoon is free for you to do some final shopping or sightseeing in Cairo, perhaps enjoying the spectacular Sound and Light show at the Pyramids in the evening, or taking a dinner cruise on the Nile.
The tour ends today and your time is free until we transfer you to the airport for your flight home. A range of extension options are available, perhaps to head to the Red Sea for some relaxation, snorkelling & scuba-diving, or a day trip to Alexandria or the World Heritage Site of the Valley of the Whales.
We use a range of carefully selected hotels on our group departures. If you have specific requests for hotels, please ask for a private or tailor-made tour.
