Cairo, Aswan, felucca cruise Luxor, Red Sea at Hurghada

Note: This tour itinerary is currently being adjusted to visit the Red Sea resort of Hurghada instead of driving through the Sinai Peninsular to Dahab.
  • Day 1:
  • Arrive in Cairo

Meet and greet at the airport and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to settle into the hotel and relax after your journey.

  • Day 2:
  • Cairo - Pyramids & Museum Tour

Enjoy a full day tour of the famous pyramids and Sphinx at Gisa before visiting the Egyptian Museum in Cairo to see the famous Tutankhamun exhibit. In the evening we board the overnight train to Aswan (1st class carriage, reclining seats, sleeper upgrade available).

  • Day 3:
  • Aswan - Tour to Philae Temple & High Dam.

We arrive in Aswan in the morning and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon we take a tour to Philae Temple and the High Dam at Lake Nasser. The rest of the day is free to explore Aswan, perhaps walking along the Corniche next to the Nile which is at its most beautiful around Aswan.

  • Day 4:
  • Aswan - Abu Simbel option. Nile felucca cruise.

Early this morning we have the chance to drive out into the desert early morning to visit the spectacular temples at Abu Simbel. In the afternoon we board our felucca sailboat to being our Nile cruise, starting with stops at some of the islands that dot the Nile around Aswan. You'll spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and watching rural Egyptian life pass you by on the banks of the Nile. In the evening we are entertained by our Nubian boat crew and are attended by our support boat with toilets, showers and a kitchen on board.

  • Day 5:
  • Felucca. Edfu & Komombo temples

We finish on the felucca after a little more sailing this morning and head north to Luxor, stopping at the beautiful riverside temple at Komombo, and the huge temple at Edfu along the way. Luxor hosts a huge concentration of ancient Pharaonic sites, on both banks of the Nile, and we'll enjoy our first visit here this evening, to Luxor temple itself which sits in the middle of town and is beautifully lit up at night.

  • Day 6:
  • Luxor. West bank tours. Free time

We cross the Nile today to visit the sights on the west bank including the Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatchepsut and Medinat Habu Temples and the imposing Colossi of Memnon. There is also an option to take a spectacular early morning hot air balloon flight over the Nile. The afternoon is free to enjoy your 5-star hotel on the banks of the Nile, explore the markets, visit the mummification museum or take another felucca trip on the Nile at sunset.

  • Day 7:
  • Luxor. Karnak Temple. Travel to Cairo

You have a welcome late start today after several early mornings over the last few days. Your morning is free to explore Luxor further before our tour this afternoon to the huge temple complex at Karnak.

  • Day 8:
  • Luxor. Transfer to the Red Sea at Hurghada

We leave Luxor this morning and transfer to the Red Sea resort of Hurghada (approx. 4-5hrs drive). Here, we check into a beach resort for some relaxation and time by the sea for the next few days. Hurghada has an interesting old town, and there are lots of snorkelling, scuba-diving, and other watersports activities available while you are here.

  • Days 9-11:
  • Hurghada. Free time at the Red Sea

The next three days are completely free for you to relax on the beach, or try some activities in and around the Red Sea. Our local rep is there to assist with all this as and when required.

  • Day 12:
  • Drive to Cairo - Free time

We depart Hurghada this morning and arrive back in Cairo in the afternoon where the rest of the day is free for you to do some final shopping or sightseeing. Options to enjoy a dinner cruise on the Nile, or see the spectacular sound and light show at the pyramids are available locally.

  • Day 13:
  • Cairo. Tour ends. Transfer to airport

Your time is free in Cairo today until we transfer you to the airport for your flight home. Extra nights in Cairo are available if you would like to extend the tour.
