Cairo, Luxor, Red Sea, Jordan

The Middle East is blessed with a huge of ancient historical sites and natural beauty. This tour highlights the most famous of these in Egypt and Jordan, while leaving some free time for you to explore further yourselves, or just relax by the Nile, or on the beach by the Red Sea. Itinerary

  • Day 1:
  • Arrive in Cairo.

Meet and greet at the airport and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to settle into the hotel and relax after your journey.

  • Day 2:
  • Cairo - Pyramids & Museum tour. Sleeper train to Luxor.

Enjoy a full day tour of the famous pyramids and Sphinx at Gisa before visiting the Egyptian Museum in Cairo to see the famous Tutankhamun exhibit. In the evening we board the overnight sleeper train to Luxor.

  • Day 3:
  • Luxor - West Bank sites.

We cross the Nile today to visit the sights on the west bank including the Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatchepsut Temple and the imposing Colossi of Memnon.

  • Day 4:
  • Luxor - East Bank tour.

Our tour today includes the temples of Karnak and Luxor where we learn more about ancient Egyptian history and marvel at their towering coloumns and statues.

  • Day 5:
  • Luxor - free day

Your day today is free to relax or explore Luxor further, possibly taking a felucca sailboat trip on the Nile, visiting the Mummification Museum, or shopping in the bazaar. There is also an option to take an early morning hot air balloon flight over the Nile. In the evening we board the overnight sleeper train back to Cairo.

  • Day 6:
  • Cairo - City Tour, Dinner Cruise.

We arrive back in Cairo in the morning and enjoy a tour of the city visiting the Citadel, Mosques, Coptic Cairo and the famous Khan-el-Khalili bazaar. In the evening we include a farewell dinner cruise on the Nile, featuring traditional belly dancing and sufi dancing displays.

  • Day 7:
  • Drive to Dahab

We leave Cairo early this morning for the drive to Dahab. The afternoon is free to relax by the hotel pool or beach or head to the bay area to enjoy the unique feel of this friendly village. If you wish, you can climb up Mt. Sinai to see the sunrise from the summit, and then visit St. Katherine's monastery, home of the 'Burning Bush'.

  • Day 8:
  • Dahab - Various activities available

Your day is free today to enjoy the laid back atmosphere of this unique beach resort. You can try a number of activities including snorkelling at the Blue Hole, a sunset camel ride, quad biking or scuba diving.

  • Day 9:
  • Ferry to Jordan - Wadi Rum Jeep safari, Bedouin camp

After relaxing in Dahab we have an early start today to catch the ferry to Jordan. After breakfast and a visit to Aqaba Fort, we head into the spectacular desert scenery of Wadi Rum for a jeep safari, Bedouin lunch, and overnight desert camp under the stars. Options for a camel ride in the desert are also available if you wish.

  • Day 10:
  • Petra

We leave Wadi Rum after breakfast, and make the short drive to Petra where we provide a 4-hour guided tour, lunch, and free time to explore Jordan's most famous tourist site.

  • Day 11:
  • Kerak, Dead Sea - to Amman

Leaving Petra, we drive up the start of the King's Highway to the huge crusader castle at Kerak. We then head down through beautiful mountain scenery to the Dead Sea before heading north up its banks with views of Israel to our left and mountain valleys on our right. En-route to Amman we stop to swim and perhaps take a mud bath in the Dead Sea's strange salty waters. 

  • Day 12:
  • Amman - Tour ends

The tour finishes today, and your time is free in Amman until we pick you up from the hotel and transfer you to the airport for your flight home. Extensions to the tour are available to visit the Roman ruins at Jerash, the Baptism site at Bethany, or do a tour into Jerusalem and Bethlehem in Israel.
