Meet and greet at the airport and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to settle into the hotel and relax after your journey.
Enjoy a full day tour of the famous pyramids and Sphinx at Gisa before visiting the Egyptian Museum in Cairo to see the famous Tutankhamun exhibit. In the evening we board the overnight sleeper train to Luxor.
After arriving in Luxor this morning you check into your 4 or 5-star hotel right on the banks of the Nile where you have some free time to relax. During the day you can explore Luxor's markets, take a felucca sailboat trip on the Nile, visit Banana Island or the fascinating Mummification Museum. In the afternoon we visit the beautiful and impressive Luxor temple, which sits right in the middle of town and is beautifully lit up at night.
We cross the Nile today to visit the sights on the west bank including the
Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatchepsut and Medinat Habu temples and the imposing Colossi of
Memnon. You can also enjoy a spectacular optional hot air balloon flight at sunrise. Later in the afternoon we tour the huge complex of temples at Karnak where we learn more about ancient Egyptian history and marvel at their towering columns and statues.In the evening we board the overnight sleeper train back to Cairo.
We arrive back in Cairo in the morning and your day is free to explore Cairo further. You could enjoy a guided tour of the city visiting the Citadel, Mosques, Coptic Cairo and the famous Khan-el-Khalili bazaar, or head further afield on a tour to the coastal city of Alexandria or into the desert to the freshwater lake of Wadi Rayan and World Heritage Site of the Valley of the Whales.
We leave Cairo early this morning for the drive across the Suez Canal and through the Sinai Peninsular to Dahab. The late afternoon is free to relax by the hotel pool or beach or head into the bay area to enjoy the unique feel of this friendly village resort.
The next two days are free for you to enjoy Dahab's laid back atmosphere. You can also try a number of activities including snorkelling at the Blue Hole, a sunset camel ride, climbing nearby Mount Sinai, quad biking or scuba diving.
After relaxing in Dahab we have an early start today to catch the ferry to Jordan. After breakfast and a visit to Aqaba Fort, we head into the spectacular desert scenery of Wadi Rum for a jeep safari, Bedouin lunch, and overnight desert camp under the stars. Options for a camel ride in the desert are also available if you wish.
We leave Wadi Rum after breakfast, and drive to the impressive hilltop fortress of Shobak, the earliest of a string of Crusader castles built across Jordan. In the afternoon we tour 'Little Petra', and get a great introduction to the Nabatean architecture and history we'll see much more of tomorrow. In the evening you may like to take the optional Petra by Candlelight tour for a beautiful first sight of the Siq and Treasury.
The whole day is set aside today to tour the amazing 'Rose City' of Petra. A morning guided tour explains about the Nabatean traders who built it, the way the colourful rocks were carved, the stories behind the temples and tombs, and the more recent history of Roman and other occupiers. After lunch you have plenty of free time to explore more of the site, perhaps heading up to the High Place of Sacrifice, or to the imposing Monastery from where there are great views over the Jordan Valley.
Today's drive is up the scenic King's Highway, with stops en-route to view the majestic valley of Wadi Mujib, see the intricate Roman mosaics at Madaba, and enjoy views over Israel from Mt. Nebo. We finish the day at a resort by the Dead Sea where we can swim in the strange salty waters before driving back to Amman for our last night in Jordan.
The tour finishes today, and your time is free until we pick you up from the hotel and transfer you to Amman airport for your flight home. Optional tours are available today to tour the capital Amman, the extensive Roman ruins at Jerash, Ajloun Castle, take a day trip into the desert to see the 'Desert Castles' or visit the Baptism Site at Bethany. You can also add an optional extension into Israel to visit Bethlehem and Jerusalem if you wish.
