Wonderful view over old Cario, Egypt
Wonderful view over old Cario, Egypt
Cairo is a colourful, bustling city steeped in history and home to the world’s most famous  ancient monument, the Pyramids. It is also a living, breathing city with many wonderful sites to see, including museums, parks and mazy bazaars. This short break will give you an excellent taster of the many delights Cairo has to offer, and undoubtedly leave you wanting to explore more of Egypt.

Note - From July 2009, our prices for this tour are based on using a 4-star hotel in the pyramids area. Alternative hotels are available on request at higher or lower levels, near the pyramids or in the city centre.

This is a private Cairo tour which includes both your arrival and departure airport transfers and can be run on any day. If you would like to join a group for the sightseeing tours, we have departures on some of our longer tours on Saturdays that this tour can run alongside.

The Pyramids at Gisa
The tour starts with a tour to the Great Pyramids of Gisa, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, and the nearby ancient and enigmatic Sphinx. We also visit the sprawling site at Saqqara, which is home to Zoser’s world famous step-pyramid.  You'll learn a lot here about the history of pyramid building and how the beliefs of the ancient Egyptians inspired their creation.

Minarets in Cairo

Our next tour is in the city itself, where we explore the most interesting sites, including some beautiful mosques, Coptic Cairo, the huge and famous Egyptian Museum with its Tutankhamun display. We also have time to wander around the sprawling Khan-el-Khalili bazaar before finishing the tour with an evening dinner cruise on the Nile accompanied by traditional song and dance.

The tour ends with a transfer back to the airport for your departure, and can be extended with extra days to allow you to visit Alexandria, Wadi Rayan and the Valley of the Whales, or other sites.
