Our company history

Our Egypt Uncovered tours and holidays have developed out of years of enjoying and operating travel in this region, and around the world. The company founders Ralph Foulds & Martin Hosie started working in the travel industry driving and operating truck-based overland expeditions through Asia and the Middle East in the mid 1990s. As time went on shorter cultural and adventure tours were added in the countries they'd got to know along the way.

First 48 Ltd. was formed with some other friends in 2000 to showcase these shorter tours as well as the original overland expeditions and a range of unique 'First 48 Hours' arrival packages, designed for independent travellers and others wanting a soft landing in an unfamiliar country. Following the tragic events in September 2001, and the following war in Afghanistan, we stopped operating overland expeditions through the region and concentrated on small-group and tailor-made tours, particularly in Egypt.

In 2003 we launched the Egypt Uncovered brand and website, to better display our wide range of tours in Egypt and Jordan.

Purely due to a change of ownership (and a desire for a better name!), Uncover the World Ltd. was formed in early 2005 to continue running all the same tours and holidays and expand our range of destinations.

Today we arrange private and tailor made itineraries to many destinations worldwide through the Uncover the World website. We also organise small-group tours through this Egypt Uncovered website, and also our Nepal Uncovered and Thailand Uncovered websites.

We also run the Adventure Fishing Holidays website, which better showcases a wide range of exciting fishing holidays.
