42 Abu El Mahasen El Shazly Street, Mohandiseen, Cairo
Note: The following information is provided from our own visits & research, the hotel itself, and our clients' experience of using the hotel.
The Zayed Hotel is a medium sized modern hotel located in the centre of Cairo, and is rated one of the best 3-star hotels in the city by the Ministry of Tourism. The hotel lobby, restaurant and rooms have all been fully rennovated in the last 12 months, and upon entering the hotel you feel the luxury of a spacious lobby with a cool marble pharonic design. The hotel makes for a relaxed and friendly base for your time in Cairo, and we use it as on several of our group and tailor-made tours.
The hotel is located in the Mohandiseen district of central Cairo which is only about 15-20 minutes drive from Giza and about 5-10 minutes drive from Tahrir square, where the Egyptian Museum is located. The hotel is set in a quiet area overlooking gardens and very close to a popular shopping area of Cairo with many shops and local & western style restaurants. The airport is approximately 30 minutes away and the train station is about 25 minutes away.
The hotel has 43 rooms, suites and self contained apartments which overlook the gardens to the front of the hotel and the city. The rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished and have either one king size or two twin beds. Each room has an en-suite bathroom with shower and bathtub and individually controlled air-conditioning. The rooms are fully equipped with satellite TV, direct dial telephone and mini-bar containing soft drinks and water. There are also electrical sockets in each room for charging phones and cameras.
The hotel has one main restaurant on the ground floor which serves both Egyptian and Western style meals throughout the day. A traditional Egyptian charcoal grill is a particular feature. A comprehensive buffet breakfast is served every morning.
Part of the restaurant doubles as a relaxing coffee-shop during the day where you can sit back and enjoy some Egyptian tea or coffee and a sheesha.
The hotel also has a fully serviced bar, with dance-floor and lighting for those end of tour parties.
The hotel has plenty of space to relax, and features 24 hour internet access, and a billiards table. The hotel does not have a swimming pool (only generally available in Cairo in 4 and 5 star hotels).
