This is an exclusive luxury resort set in 48 acres of gardens on its own private beach. The all-suite resort is built in a contemporary Arabic design with domes, arches and columns to reflect the style of the region and the suites are set amongst the lawned gardens giving a feeling of peace and privacy. The high standards and superior levels of service have qualified the resort as a member of the ‘Leading Small Hotels of the World’ organization.
As one of the very best hotels in the area, the Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh is perfect for honeymooners and couples but is not designed to be ideal for families with younger children.
The hotel is located at the southern end of Hurghada away from the main tourist area and feels very private and peaceful. The hotel is set on a sloping hillside leading down to its own private beach and the sea. The main shopping area of Hurghada is just a 25 minute drive away and the airport is 17 km away (approx 20 minutes).
This is an all-suite resort and there are 63 deluxe and 21 superior deluxe suites which are located throughout the extensive lawned gardens. The superior deluxe suites are situated closer to the shoreline and have sea views. All the suites are spacious and elegantly furnished and have a sitting area separated from the bedroom by Arabic Style arches. Each has its own private terrace set within a walled courtyard which offers shade during the day and is perfect for private al-fresco dining in the evening.
The luxurious en-suite bathrooms have a sunken bathtub and separate shower stall with a glass wall overlooking a private open air garden. There is a spacious walk in closet area and all the suites have individually controlled air-conditioning. In each suite there are two satellite TV’s, one in the bedroom area and one in the sitting area, a dvd player, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar, hairdryer, internet access and safety deposit box.
There are also 12 Grand Suites and 6 Royal suites available and these are larger and have their own private swimming pools.
The main restaurant in the hotel has views of the sea and offers an outdoor dining option. It is open for buffet breakfast and has an a la carte menu for dinner with a choice of international and Oriental dishes. The Pergola restaurant has a romantic setting by the side of the pool overlooking the Red Sea and has a choice of light meals such as salads, pastas, pizzas and snacks and is open throughout the day. The pool front bar has live instrumental music in the evening and has a wide choice of international spirits, fine wines and cocktails and is ideal for either pre or post dinner drinks.
The Zaafran restaurant is an Oriental restaurant offering a choice of Middle Eastern and Indian cuisine. It is a small restaurant with a romantic atmosphere and is open for dinner only.
The resort has a range of facilities including a large outdoor infinity pool which is heated in the winter months. The pool is open from 7am until sunset and offers views of the private beach and Red Sea. The beach is 850m long and has a jetty so that guests can enjoy snorkeling and swimming in the sea and there is also a scuba-diving centre located at the beach offering courses, boat diving and equipment hire.
For health and recreation there is a fully equipped gym with sauna and steam rooms and there is also a spa run by Banyan Tree offering a range of treatments such as aromatherapy, massages, body scrubs and various beauty therapies. There are floodlit tennis courts and golf can be arranged (approx 30 km away).
There are a number of facilities for children including a children’s activity centre which has a playstation, TV with DVD player, slides and mini basket ball and there is also a children’s menu available in the main restaurant for dinner.
