The Intercontinental Resort is a luxury low-rise beach resort in Hurghada, set in landscaped gardens on its own private sandy beach with direct access to the waters of the Red Sea. The resort has its own marina and a large outdoor pool area with sun terraces and shaded areas. There are numerous sports and leisure facilities on offer including a health club and a scuba diving and water-sports centre. The hotel also operates a complimentary shuttle bus to take guests to the centre of Hurghada.
The resort is situated on the secluded Hurghada bay and is only a few minutes drive away from the town centre with its numerous shops, bars & restaurants The hotel is eight kilometres (approx 10 minutes) from Hurghada International Airport and seven kilometres from the main shopping area.
The hotel has a total of 252 guest rooms, including 15 suites located over 5 floors, all facing the Red Sea, pool and marina. All the rooms are very spacious and modern and have a private balcony or terrace with sea view. Standard rooms have either one king-size or two twin beds and en-suite bathroom with bath tub. The rooms are fully equipped with air conditioning, satellite TV, minibar, safe deposit box, and hairdryer along with electrical sockets.
There are family rooms available on request and disabled rooms which are located on the ground floor and have a specially equipped bathroom.
The hotel has a number of bars and restaurants to choose from, most of which have views of the Red sea, pool and marina. The main hotel restaurant is the Palm’s Brasserie and is open for buffet style breakfast and dinner every day offering a choice of international and local dishes. The Al Dente Italian restaurant features live background piano music and the Fish Market restaurant which overlooks the marina offers freshly caught fish and Middle Eastern dishes and is open for both lunch and dinner.
For more casual dining there is La Terrace poolside restaurant and the Al Buhayra restaurant which are both open from 10.00 until sunset every day and offer a choice of international dishes.
The Captain’s bar has regular evening entertainment, offers a selection of drinks and cocktails and is open daily from 10.30 am until 02.00 am. The hotel also has a nightclub, the Dome, which is located in a separate building in the grounds of the hotel and is open until 04.00.
There are a wide range of recreational facilities on offer in the hotel including a large temperature controlled swimming pool with separate children’s section, regular daytime activities and even horse riding. The Aqua Water-sports centre offers a range of water-sports including windsurfing, snorkelling and parasailing and can also arrange deep-sea fishing trips. Scuba-diving courses and equipment hire are available from the PADI Dive centre.
There is also a Leisure Club located in a separate building within the hotel grounds and this has a fully equipped gym with sauna, Jacuzzi and steam rooms and tennis and squash courts. For children aged 4 – 12 there is the Snoopy Club which offers organised children’s entertainment and activities and has a supervised children’s playground.
