SEASUN HOTEL, DAHAB, EGYPT
2345 Dahab - 53 Blue Hole Road – South Sinai – Egypt
Note: The following information is provided from our own visits & research, the hotel itself, and our clients' experience of using the hotel.
Introduction:
The Sea Sun hotel is a brand new hotel that was opened just last year (2008). It therefore has a very modern style and feels very spacious with open garden areas around the pools and along the driveway. The hotel has its own private beach area making it perfect for water-sports or just relaxing. The hotel has an impressive glass frontage at the end of the driveway and the lobby and reception area have comfortable settees and chairs where guests can sit and have a drink from the bar.
The hotel is rated as a 4-star hotel and we offer this as an upgrade on our standard tours that include a stay in Dahab.
Location:
The hotel is located on the ‘Blue Hole’ road approximately 5km from the center of Dahab. The nearest international airport is in Sharm el Sheikh and this is about 95 km away (approx 1 – 1 1/2 hours by road).
The hotel is set right on the beach and is next door to the Tropitel hotel. There are no shops, restaurants etc close by, but taxis are very cheap and the hotel offers a shuttle service that runs 3 times a day into the center of Dahab. The Orca dive centre, also arranges a pick up and drop off service from the Tropitel (next door) for anyone that wishes to dive with them during their time in Dahab.
Accommodation:
The hotel has 60 rooms located in 4 accommodation units on two floors, and 4 large suites. All the units are named (Diversun, Familysun, Goldsun and Oasis Sun) according to their location (i.e. diversun rooms are near to dive centre). All the rooms have either a full, or partial sea view, and some rooms overlook the pool and garden area whilst others look out over the Sinai Mountains and beach.
The rooms are large and very modern and have either twin or double beds. The furnishings and décor reflect the rest of the hotel and have dark wooden furnishings giving them an oriental feel. Each room has a wall mounted flat screen satellite TV, mini-bar, air-conditioning and tea and coffee making facilities.
The en-suite bathrooms are large with a full size bath and shower along with a hairdryer and shaver points.
Bars & Restaurants:
The main hotel restaurant ‘Market Place’ is situated off the lobby area and is open for breakfast and dinner. There is a wide selection of food available with many international and local dishes to choose from. You can dine al fresco on the large terrace overlooking the pool area and down to the beach. For lunch you can choose from the open air restaurant ‘The Snackeria’, located directly on the beach where food from the BBQ grill and salads are served. There is also an Italian restaurant, ‘Mario’, which is open for lunch and is also located down by the beach; here you can order pizzas from the charcoal grill.
There is another restaurant upstairs in the hotel and this is the ‘Pascha’ Chinese restaurant serving a selection of oriental and specialty foods from Asia.
There are four bars in the hotel: Welcome Bar is located in the lobby, Pirates Bar is near the beach, and there is also a pool bar serving fresh juices during the day.
The Moonlight Bar is upstairs in the hotel and has more of a modern ‘pub’ style to it with a dartboard, TV and different types of music nights. There is also occasional entertainment such as belly dancing shows and live bands, which takes place near to the beach.
Facilities & Services:
The hotel has two pools, one of which is a separate children’s pool and these are located in the garden area. There is a private beach area with sun loungers and children’s play area and climbing frame. Close to the beach is the Bedouin tent where you can relax and smoke shisha. The hotel has its own dive centre located directly on the beach which is operated by Subex. It has its own dive boat enabling divers to experience some of the best dive sites around the Dahab area. There is also a water-sports center with pedalos, windsurfers, snorkeling equipment and the unique Solar-Marine boats for hire. The marine boats are similar to a jet ski but have a viewing porthole in the top of the hull so that you can see the wonderful marine life of the Red Sea whilst you lay down and relax on top of either the single or twin boat. The house reef is located right in front of the hotel and is perfect for snorkeling.
The Wellness centre has all the usual facilities including Finnish Sauna, Steam Bath, massage and Ayurveda treatments.
