"Wow what a fantastic time I had in Dahab. I've dived at several locations around the world and never knew how exciting the Red Sea was. Caverns, canyons and the excellent Blue Hole have made this holiday the best I've been on. Where else can I go?"

ORICANA HOTEL, DAHAB
Mashraba Street, Dahab, South Sinai, Egypt
Note: The following information is provided from our own visits & research, the hotel itself, and our clients' experience of using the hotel.
Introduction:
The Oricana is a small friendly hotel which was newly opened in summer 2006. The Sinai Mountains provide a dramatic backdrop to the hotel and the Red Sea is only 100m away. The hotel is very clean and modern and has a central courtyard and garden area where the swimming pool is located. There is a children’s section of the pool making the hotel not only suitable for couples and singles but also for families. The standards and friendly atmosphere in this hotel make it our first choice for our Standard level small group tours which include stays in Dahab.
Location:
The hotel is situated in a peaceful location on the main road in Dahab and it is only a 5 minute walk to the nearest restaurants and bars which are situated all along the beach. It is a 10 minute walk to the centre of Dahab where the hotel's own dive centre, ORCA Dive Club, is located and there are shops nearby where you can buy water, food, alcohol and toiletries. There are many more gift and souvenir shops further along the road and also in the centre of Dahab. The nearest international airport is Sharm el Sheikh which is approximately 100 km (1 & ½ hours drive) away.
Accommodation:
The hotel is two storeys high and is built around the central pool area. There are 34 rooms all with either balcony or terrace overlooking the pool and there are rooms at the front of the hotel which have views of the Red Sea. The rooms are very clean and spacious with modern furnishings and individually controlled air-conditioning. They each have an en-suite bathroom (shower only) with hot and cold freshwater and there is a satellite TV and a telephone in each room. The mini-fridge is stocked with water, soft drinks and snacks and these are replenished daily. The rooms also have electrical sockets available for charging phones and cameras.
Bars & Restaurants:
There is one main restaurant in the hotel which is open for buffet breakfast from 7 am until 10 am. Excellent breakfasts are also available in the local beach-front cafes. There is a menu available throughout the day for snacks, lunch and dinner and these can be ordered in the main restaurant or from the pool café. The menu is varied and reasonably priced and has international and Egyptian dishes to choose from.
There is a pool bar which is open throughout the day and evening and there are tables located round the pool where you can sit and relax. Alcoholic drinks are not available in the hotel but it is possible to purchase drinks just outside of the hotel and keep them in your own mini-fridge or in the fridge at the pool bar. Coffee, tea, soft drinks and fruit juices are all available from the pool bar throughout the day.
Facilities & Services:
The hotel has a medium sized freshwater swimming pool which is located in the main courtyard and garden area of the hotel. There is a spacious sun terrace around the edge of the pool with sun loungers and parasols and towels are provided each day for use at the pool. The pool has a small children’s section and there are seats in the main section of the pool where you can sit and cool off from the heat of the day.
The hotel also has its own dive centre, the ORCA Dive Club, which is located in the centre of Dahab and diving and courses can be pre-booked through us prior to arrival, or while you are in Dahab. The centre is well equipped with a large modern classroom, up-to-date equipment, with helpful & friendly staff and instructors.
