The beauty and splendour of Egypt has captivated travellers for centuries. Awe-inspiring, ancient monuments rise majestically from the desert to give a glimpse of Egypt’s mighty past. The lush, green Nile valley cuts its way through barren, sandy desert and the hustle and bustle of Cairo hides a wealth of interesting sights. Add to this the sun drenched, sandy beaches and crystal blue waters of the Red Sea and you've got a great, 9-day holiday. Read more
We meet you in the airport and transfer you to your 5-star hotel where the rest of the day is free for you to relax and settle in.
Your tour starts today with a tour to the Pyramids and Sphinx at Gisa, where we are introduced to Egyptian history and learn about how the pyramids evolved into the huge examples here. After lunch we visit the Egyptian museum in the centre of Cairo and in the evening transfer to the train station for the overnight sleeper train to Luxor.
After arriving in Luxor we head to the West bank of the Nile and tour the Pharaonic tombs in the Valley of the Kings, as well as Queen Hatchepsut & Medinat Habu temples and the Colossi of Memnon. After checking into our 5-star hotel on the banks of the Nile, the afternoon is free to explore Luxor and perhaps take an evening felucca sailboat trip on the Nile.
Our tour this morning explores the huge temple of Karnak on the outskirts of Luxor, and after a free afternoon we visit Luxor temple in the evening when it is lit up by hundreds of spotlights.
We leave Luxor today and make the 4-5 hour drive through the hills and down to the Red Sea coast and the town of Hurghada which will be our base for the next few days. You also have the option of a spectacular early morning hot air balloon flight today, seeing the sun rise as you float over the west bank of the Nile.
Your next two days are free to relax on the beach at your hotel, or do something more active such as a snorkelling or scuba-diving boat trip.
We leave Hurghada today and drive up the Red Sea coast almost to the Suez Canal before heading in to Cairo (flight upgrades available). In the evening you can revisit the pyramids for a spectacular sound and light show, take a dinner cruise on the Nile, or try one of Cairo's many excellent restaurants for a last night meal.
The tour ends today and your time is free until we transfer you to the airport for departure.
We use a range of carefully selected hotels on our group departures. If you have specific requests for hotels, please ask for a private or tailor-made tour.
"Overall it was a fantastic holiday for us. The children (girls of 11, 13, 15) enjoyed it very much. Some real highlights and memories."
