If you want to make this a 9-day tour, running from Saturday to Sunday, and fitting into your children's half-term holiday, then the tour itinerary is designed to allow this. You take the overnight sleeper train back to Cairo in the evening of Day 8 (Saturday), arriving in Cairo in the morning on Day 9 (Sunday). We will provide a day-use hotel room until we transfer you to the airport for an afternoon flight home. Alternatively, you can fly back from Luxor to Cairo in the evening on Day 8 (Saturday) and take any flight home on Day 9 (Sunday).
This discount option covers the cost of the short tour, dinner cruise and overnight hotel room that you will not use in Cairo on Day 9.

Nile Cruise Upgrade
If you wish to take a luxury cruise instead of the basic felucca sailboat cruise, then we offer this option. You check on board a luxury 5-star cruise boat for 3 days and 3 nights on the Nile. During the day we make our way slowly downriver from Aswan to Luxor, relaxing in the sun and watching Egyptian life on the banks of the Nile drift by. In the evenings we dine on classical Egyptian and western food and listen to the distinctive sounds of traditional music in the sumptuous surroundings of the cruise boat. On our way we stop at Edfu Temple, a well-preserved complex dedicated to the God Horus; and also at Komombo, where there are the remains of a temple dedicated to the Gods Sobek and Haroeris (Komombo visit not included in tour price). The final night of the cruise is spent moored in the centre of Luxor. All your meals are included. Twin cabins with an extra bed are available on the boat, which can take 2 adults and one child. Triple cabins are not generally available and a single supplement will be added if you need a single cabin.

Fayoum, Wadi Rayan, Valley of the Whales - 2 days
This tour features extends our normal Wadi Rayan & Valley of the Whales day trip, to spend a night in the Helnan Auberge Hotel right next to Lake Qaroun in the Fayoum 'Oasis'. We then spend the next day touring various sites in and around the Fayoum region before returning to Cairo with a stop en-route at the Meidun Pyramid, one of the very first attempts at pyramid building in Egypt. This tour adds one extra day to the length of the tour, and requires a minimum of 2 people to run., Alternate hotels may be used subject to availability.

Hot Air Balloon Flight - Luxor
This trip runs early in the morning in Luxor, so that you catch the early morning sun over the Valleys of the Kings & Queens, temples and desert. The trip runs from between 5.00am and 10.00am (start times vary), with about 1 hour in the air. We normally book this for you on your second day in Luxor, before the West Bank tour. There is a minimum number of people required for the trips to run, and they are also weather dependent. It is very rare however that are cancelled, and if this happens, we will refund you in full.

Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids
Watch this spectacular laser light and sound show at the pyramids. Listen to the head of the Sphinx as it tells the story of the Pharaohs and how the great pyramids were built. The show is available in different languages and runs from early to late evening. All transport is provided along with entrance fees.

Abu Simbel Tour (overland)
The awesome temples at Abu Simbel are a must see for anyone travelling to Egypt. Lying 280 km south of Aswan this remarkable temple, reclaimed stone by stone from the rising waters of lake Nasser, stands as a testament to the greatness of the Pharaoh Ramses II, and to modern engineering. We leave Aswan by road with the early morning convoy at 04.30am so that we arrive in Abu Simbel at around sunrise (approx. 3 hours drive). You then have a guided tour and free time at the temples (approx. 2 hours in total) before driving back to Aswan. You can do this tour and still enjoy all the set excursions included in the main tour.

Cairo to Aswan Flight Upgrade
Should you wish, you have the option of spending another night at your hotel in Cairo and taking the early morning flight to Aswan, instead of the sleeper train. All transfers are included.
