St. CATHERINE'S VILLAGE, SINAI
Wadi El Raha, St Catherine’s, Sinai Peninsular, Egypt
Note: The following information is provided from our own visits & research, the hotel itself, and our clients' experience of using the hotel.
Introduction:
This is a unique village style hotel which is surrounded by the Sinai mountains. The rooms are located throughout the hotel gardens and have been built to complement the surroundings. The hotel is built as an eco-lodge with only 25% of the hotel area occupied with man-made structures and many of the plant species found in the area are protected. We like to use this hotel as a stop off for tours visiting St. Catherine's Monastery on their way from the Nile Valley into Jordan, or for tailor-made tours spending longer in the Sinai Peninsular.
Location:
The village is located in the main valley of the St Catherine’s protectorate and is on the main road that goes to the Monastery. The village faces towards Mount Sinai and overlooks St Catherine’s Monastery.
Accommodation:

There are 116 rooms which are spread out throughout the gardens of the hotel. The rooms are all en-suite bungalows and are spacious with a separate sitting area. They are pleasantly decorated and tastefully furnished and have a private terrace with views of the Monastery from every room. Other features include air-conditioning, telephones, multilingual satellite TVs and a stocked mini-bar.
Bars & Restaurants:

There are two main places to eat in the Village. The main restaurant, El Sefsafa, serves a variety of international dishes while the scenic Terrace restaurant displays a spectacular panoramic view of St. Catherine's monastery and the surrounding mountains, and serves Italian, Oriental and French cuisine.
Facilities & Services:

The hotel does not have a swimming pool, which we feel is no real loss - you're in the middle of barren mountainous land, and will almost certainly have either come from, or be en-route to the Red Sea. The hotel does however have a reading room, and billiards room for you to relax in during the evenings. There is also a small shopping arcade.
