SONESTA ST. GEORGE HOTEL, LUXOR
Corniche El Nile Street, Luxor
Note: The following information is provided from our own visits & research, the hotel itself, and our clients' experience of using the hotel.
Introduction:
The Sonesta St George is a modern hotel which stands on the banks of the Nile and has views over the Nile to the Valley of the Kings on the West Bank. The hotel is contemporary in design but maintains a very Egyptian feel with lots of columns, marble floors and Egyptian artwork throughout. It has all the facilities of a 5* hotel including a heated outdoor pool, a health and fitness club and a wide choice of restaurants, bars and shops.
The location and facilities of the hotel make this one of our first choice hotels (along with Le Meridien Luxor) on our Superior level small group tours and for private and tailor-made trips which include a stay in Luxor.
Location:
The hotel is located on the east bank of the Nile in the centre of Luxor’s shopping district. All the main tourist sites of Luxor are within easy reach and it is only minutes away from the Luxor Temple and the Luxor Museum. Luxor international airport is only 12 kilometres away.
Accommodation:

The hotel has seven floors and 224 rooms which are very modern and furnished to a high standard. The standard rooms offer a side Nile view and rooms with full Nile view are available for a small supplement. All rooms have their own private balcony and either a double or twin beds with en-suite bathroom. They are all air-conditioned and are fully equipped with TV, mini-bar, hairdryer, safety deposit box and telephone. There are also electrical sockets in the room for charging phones and cameras etc.
Bars & Restaurants:
The main dining room in the hotel is the Serapis which overlooks the Nile and the hotel pool and is open for buffet breakfast and dinner. It offers a wide variety of international and local dishes and has a different themed buffet every evening. There are a number of other restaurants within the hotel offering a choice of cuisines and dining styles. The Miyako is Luxor’s first Japanese restaurant and sushi bar and The Beban is an 'a la carte' Italian restaurant which overlooks the Nile and the pool. The Aladin restaurant offers a typical Egyptian evening with entertainment and a selection of Middle Eastern specialities.
The Lotus coffee shop situated in the lobby is open 24 hours a day for light meals, snacks and refreshments and Jeb’s poolside restaurant is open for lunch only serving salads, sandwiches and other light meals. In the evening you can enjoy drinks and cocktails in Noble’s English pub whilst watching the sunset over the river Nile.
Facilities & Services:
The hotel has a heated outdoor pool overlooking the Nile, with a swim up bar and a separate children’s section. The Key of Life Health Club, Spa and Fitness centre is open from 10.00am until 09.00pm daily on the lower level of the hotel. It features a fully equipped gym with weights and exercise machines, sauna, steam bath, Jacuzzi and Swedish massage. The hotel also has a range of activities for children, including the ‘Just Us Kids’ programme that organises games, competitions and children’s entertainment. The hotel lobby area has a shopping arcade offering a selection of items from Egyptian handicrafts and jewellery to gifts and toiletries.
