BASMA HOTEL, ASWAN
Basma el Fanadek St., Aswan
Note: The following information is provided from our own visits & research, the hotel itself, and our clients' experience of using the hotel.
Introduction:
The Basma is a medium sized modern hotel set on the highest hill in Aswan with views over the city and the Nile. The hotel is built around a central outdoor swimming pool area with landscaped gardens and sun terraces, and features a lot of traditional Egyptian artwork throughout. The hotel has all the facilities of a 4* hotel including a choice of bars and restaurants and has won a number of awards including a Green Globe award.
The facilities together with the high standards within the hotel make this one of our first choice hotels on all our Standard level small group and private tours which include stays in Aswan.
Location:
The hotel is located close to the centre of Aswan on a hill overlooking the city. It is only a 10 minute walk (approx 1 kilometre) to the Nile Corniche where you can find the main shops, markets and restaurants of Aswan. A free shuttle bus is always available. Directly opposite the hotel at the end of the driveway is the Nubian Museum which is famous for its exhibition of Nubian history of the Christian and Islamic faith, and is well worth a visit. Aswan International Airport is 20 kilometres away and it is only 1 kilometre to the train station.
Accommodation:

The hotel has 189 medium sized rooms located on six floors overlooking the pool or city. Some of the city view rooms also have a view of the Nile.
The rooms are all bright, modern and well kept and have tiled floors giving them a light and airy feel. They are tastefully decorated and very comfortably furnished with either one king size or two twin beds and have a balcony or terrace.
The rooms all have en-suite bathroom with bath and shower and are equipped with individually controlled air-conditioning, mini-bar, satellite TV, telephone and electrical sockets for charging phones and cameras.
Bars & Restaurants:
The main restaurant in the hotel is the Lotus restaurant and this offers both buffet and a la carte style dining with a choice of international dishes and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can also eat outside in the large open-air Garden Terrace whilst watching the sunset over the mountains. During the day there are drinks, snacks and light meals available from both the Pool Bar and the Vienna Café which is located in the lobby area of the hotel. You can enjoy a drink after dinner in
The Nubian Bar which is located next to the main restaurant and offers a choice of cocktails, beers and spirits and has a pool table and satellite TV.
For a typical Egyptian evening there is the Ali Baba Tent which features local singing and dancing. It serves buffet-style dinner with a choice of barbequed dishes and you can finish the evening by trying out one of the different flavoured shisha pipes.
