General Role:
This post is based in our office outside Leeds, West Yorkshire, in the UK, and is mainly a booking administration role handling client bookings and dealing with foreign suppliers for worldwide angling holidays. There are no sales involved. 
We offer an attractive package with good progression opportunities within the company.
The starting salary is £15,000 p/a.
 
  
1. Job Specification:
 
1.1 Pre-Sales:
  • Answering telephone & email enquiries from client tour operators. Recording their requirements appropriately and either following them up personally, or passing them to the appropriate member of staff 
  • Checking availability and prices with foreign suppliers
  • Creating and pricing tailor-made itineraries, including liaising with local suppliers.
1.2 Post-Sales, Pre-Tour:
  • Handling customer correspondence, invoices and booking administration 
  • Using our TourCMS computer booking system
  • Booking holiday arrangements with local suppliers
1.3 During Tour:
  • Liaising with local suppliers with regard to clients while on holiday
 1.5 General:
  • Checking supplier invoices
  • Maintaining current price lists from suppliers around the world
  • General office administration
  • Research and writing content relating to holiday destinations.
  • Some travel abroad researching destinations may be required.
  • Salaried position. Some evening & weekend work may be required.
 
 
2. Person Specification:
 
2.1 Qualifications:
 
a) Must have:
  • GCSE/'O'-Level English - C or higher
  • GCSE/'O'-Level Maths - C or higher
  • Some further qualification(s) showing academic study beyond GCSE/'O'-Level.
b) Preferred:
  • Further education qualifications (eg. A-levels, HND, degree, professional qualifications)
  • Professional qualifications in the tourist industry.
2.2 Experience:
 
a) Must have:
  • Experience of working in an office administration environment.
b) Preferred:
  • Experience of travel abroad in at least one non-Western country.
  • Experience of fishing in different destinations around the world, or an interest in fishing.
  • Some experience of working in a tour operator or travel agency environment, handling booking administration, customer correspondence, pricing holidays, and dealing with local suppliers & agents.
2.3 Qualities:
 
a) Must have:
  • Good written English and a professional and patient telephone manner
  • Good mathematical ability (as pricing of holidays involved can be complicated)
  • Confidence and skills with basic PC software (windows, Word) and the use of the internet
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with non-Western companies and people.
  • Appreciation of the importance of excellent customer service, and ability to carry this out.
  • Ability to organise their own work, and work independently to deadlines and targets.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Confidence and ability to work as an integral part of a small team in a home-based office environment
  • Typing speed of at least 30wpm
  • Full passport enabling travel throughout the world
b) Preferred:
  • Good PC Skills including working with booking systems and databases.
  • Knowledge of, and interest, in fishing for different species in the UK and around the world.
  • Typing speed over 60wpm
